Acting
David Newer has been working as an actor in the theater for over 25 years.
He has worked extensively in both New York and Los Angeles, as well as
regionally. Some of his credits include Carry the Tiger to the Mountain,
Pan Asian Repertory Company; Gun Club, Cherry Lane Theatre; Parker
Family Circus, Texas Homos, Abingdon Theatre Company; Dinner With Friends, Rounding Third, The Public Theatre,
Auburn, ME; Split Second, Crossroads Theatre Company; Down
the Road,
Tiffany Theatre; Italian American Reconciliation, American Renegade
Theatre.
He has appeared in numerous films, soaps, and on television, most recently
on Law & Order. He played the leading role in Performance
Anxiety,
winner of the Prix De La Critique (Critic’s Choice) for Best Short
Film at the Cannes Film Festival. He appears in a principal role in The
Legacy, a feature film shot in Los Angeles.
Directing
David’s directing credits include, Eden End, North Carolina School of the Arts; The
Blue Room, The Last Supper,
Asolo Conservatory/Florida State University; The Dumb Waiter, Ward Studio, New York, NY; Orphans, Chelsea Arts; Danny

Teaching
David is currently on the Acting faculty in the Theatre Arts (BFA)
Program at the University of the Arts, in Philadelphia. He has taught
acting
at North Carolina School of the Arts, the Asolo Conservatory/Florida State University, Rutgers University’s
Summer Acting Conservatory, Fordham University, and the American Academy
of Dramatic Arts in New York. He also teaches privately at his own studio
in New York, and has spent eight summers teaching a Meisner
workshop in the Ensemble Studio Theatre’s Summer Conference in
Lexington, NY. David holds an MFA in Acting from Rutgers University.
